UTA Alum is Award-Winning Entrepreneur
When it comes to inspirational stories, I always look for people like Mr. Larry Kemp because I love encouragement. And the fact that he states he has a learning disability makes me, even more, happier about my future because in spite of my learning disability I want to accomplish my dream to be a lawyer. I have a learning disability. As a kid growing up, I experience discrimination on almost all social levels. My childhood wasn't so great. In fact, I use to believe I didn't have a purpose because I am a slow learner. Because of the unfair and unlawful treatment I experienced, I was easily convinced to stop trying. I struggled with my identity. I struggled with whether had anything gift and talents to offer society. Fast forward, after a long path of depression and insecurity, and many tears, I became a Christian.
I started to believe that if I can remember scriptures from the Holy Bible, and interpret them, I can remember information from the class I needed to pass to get a step closer to my dream. I even discovered my passion to read, speak and to help people who experienced unfair and unlawful treatment. Today after a long-struggling path, I am a student at the University of Texas at Arlington School of Business. And I know if someone who has a learning disability like myself can accomplish their dream, I know with prayer, faith, and action, and with the right people surrounding me, I can accomplish my dream to graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington School of Business, take the LSAT, get accepted into law school, graduate from law school and become a lawyer to help people. Start my own law firm/non-profit organization. What an inspiring story to watch!
